orm salamander Several species of newts and salamanders are available to hobbyists. The larger species of ambystomid salamanders (tiger, spotted, marbled, ringed salamanders) are certainly worth exploring for new husbandry projects, along with the amphiumas, waterdogs, and hellbenders (where legal). Most small native species are best just enjoyed viewing in the wild unless you want to raise springtails and other small invertebrates for them.
