Amphibian Diversity Fights Parasites
Parasite load in American toads dropped when they raised in the same tank as gray tree frogs. Gray tree frogs could fight off infestations better than toads. Not sure why the researcher is saying the two amphibians are competitors -- they obviously are in different niches, unless they're referring to the tadpole stage. (News source.)

A couple who took in a boa that was found roaming loose was charged with selling it by the police department, who claim it was never formally adopted. The couple had had to pay vet bills, etc., and couldn't continue taking care of the snake. The police are surprised that the snake's owner isn't coming forward, as the boa is so "valuable."
