Snake News

Copperhead bites are on the increase in St. Mary's County, Maryland. (News source.)

A big copperhead was killed in Alabama. (News source.) [The herpetologist quoted, however, is incorrect when he states that that largest documented rattlesnake was only 7 1/2 feet long. Big Mud Snake

Rangers in Georgia discovered a 6 foot 7 inch long mud snake, which might be a state record. Apparently it laid eggs, which will be hatched before releasing the young snakes into the wild. (News source.)

Big Snake Reported

Apparently, a 6-8 foot "python" was reported from Lake Sinclair, near Baldwin, Georgia. No sightings have followed, according to GA DNR. Of course, in that size range, it's just as likely to be a misidentified and exaggerated watersnake. (News source.)

Cyprus Whipsnake
