Flatwoods Salamander Protection

As a genetic study in 2007 split the flatwoods salamander back into two species (Ambystoma cinculatum and Ambystoma bishopi), the USFWS is now wanting to consider both species separately, keeping the frosted flatwoods salamander (A. cingulatum) as threatened, but moving the reticulated flatwoods salamander to endangered status. Lake Erie Watersnakes Recover

20 years ago, there were only 1200 adult snakes, now there are about 12,000. The recovery of the Lake Erie watersnake means it will probably be taken off USFWS threatened species status, though I suspect Ohio will keep it state-protected. (News source.)
